Nuts & Bolts Update
This journey has been a mixture of different experiences, it’s kinda making our heads spin, but we LOVE IT! Play testing has been a trip in itself… the feeling of your game slowly being revealed to the world is giving us a feeling of pride in realizing how far this idea has come along.
PROTOTYPE 8
We are now on version 8 and have now produced a new game board. It’s exciting to see the new terrain and style. We’ve also added a legend in hopes that people will remember the turn steps. The feedback we’ve been getting is a mixture of “I like it” and “there’s a lot going on at the same time” so after some deep thought and heated discussions on what to keep and what to ditch we came to the conclusion that less was more.
Things That got Removed
My personal favorite part of the game “Munnie” has been done away with :’(. First we got rid of some denominations, but the game flow was going in a different direction, SO Munnie has been laid to rest on the cutting room floor.
Maximum hand size is gone for now, it might return we just don’t know what to do with it yet.
Trade effects, GONE! This was a case of not being intuitive enough, or being ignored entirely, but after playing without it, we don’t know why it was there in the first place.
DICE ROLLS!!! I know... but the new system, really feels like we are all directing the racers to do our bidding, which is what we are going for.
End of turn penalties, now this one I really didn’t want to let go, but the overwhelming consensus was that no one liked them, for any reason.
Things Changed
Racer Rotations are undergoing some maintenance, we’re not sure what to do with them yet but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
Racers Abilities have been altered to fit the new gameplay, which was sad because we had started introducing characters on the Dirty Deeds website, its not a big deal, but just a heads up new intros are coming.
Influence, is now the currency? I guess that’s the easiest way to explain it.
Influence is now used to interact with each racer and when it’s all spent up the turn is over.
Additionally, we went for another round at Snakes and Lattes! This time around it seemed like a lot less time was spent directing turn steps, and clarifying things which is great! Helps us feel like we’re on the right track.
There is still a long way to go but every step is one closer to our goal, and again we want to thank everyone who is helping us, our patrons and fans who are making this possible.
We will keep you posted!
